Healing with Flower Essences~Guest Healer~Amy Hendrickson

Each flower has a unique energetic vibration

It can shift the energy in your body in a unique way.

It can shift the energy in your body in a unique way.

This is Red Grevillea, one of the flowers I use.

My oldest child is turning 10 soon.  My youngest turned 2 in October.  This means that for 10 years, I’ve been deeply focused on other’s needs, multitasking, sleeping poorly, and truly putting my needs aside because everyone else was so much louder.  I remember as each of my children moved into age 2, I began to have some breathing room.  Some space for me.  The difference this time is that my sweet little girl is my last little bundle.  I am done having babies.  So as I am moving through age 2 with her, I’m not anticipating another cycle of deep hands-on dependency.  There is freedom in that feeling.   Because she is sleeping better, I am sleeping better.  Because she plays by herself in fits and spurts, I have some time for myself (although not much!).  I feel like for the first time in a decade I’ve had the luxury to really think about me.  I’ve begun to make myself a priority in a way I couldn’t fathom 4 years ago.

This feeling is fantastic, but also a bit scary.  I have the time to look at my wants and desires.  I take the time to acknowledge my fears and my hopes.  I am giving myself the luxury of pause and reflect.  I am ready to go more deeply into me, and that is so vital for me as I shift into the next phase of my life.

I have been using flower essences for years for my family’s physical and emotional health.   What I am seeing now for myself and for my clients is a different focus.  I am using flower essences to move myself forward in my journey.  I am learning to take care of me, identify my needs, and honor that what I am doing is important.  My flower blends allow me to make the internal shifts in me I desire. Or as one client eloquently stated, “Amy’s flower essence blends help me get shit done.”

For months now, I have been using flower essence blends to help with identifying my goals, digging out deep emotional blockages that are preventing clients from trusting themselves, nurturing courage and honesty so that an individual can grasp her dreams. I am seeing this all from women who are ready to take care of themselves, and it is so inspiring and wonderful to experience.

So how does this happen?  How do these mysterious flower essences work?

Let’s first look at the nature of energy.  Everything has energy.  We do.   The food we eat does.  Flowers do.  Each being, plant, stone has its own individual energetic vibration.  When you hold plants, work in a garden, walk in the woods, you feel good partially because of the exercise and fresh air, but also because you are absorbing the energy of all of these energetic things.  The absorbed energies help you make a shift inside yourself.  They help you shift back to a healthier state of being.  They help you release negative emotions that can cause poor sleep, crankiness, overwhelm, back pain.

A flower essence is just the natural energy from a flower bottled up, waiting to be shared. Each flower has a unique energetic vibration that can shift the energy in your body in a unique way; while a flower blend is simply a collection of flower essences collected together and combined into one bottle.

It saddens me to see how long it took me to get to this place of announcing I am worth self-care.  I am worth time and space.  I am worth self-reflection and self-love.   My 20 year old college self should have felt that.  My 25-year-old newly married self should have felt that.  My deep in the baby trenches self should have felt that.  I feel as women, we tend to believe that our needs should go last.  Yet, I am seeing that the more I can take care of me, the more that I can take care of others and really embrace the journey, in all of its joy, pain and depth.

I am thrilled to be hosting Amy as our First Guest Healer on my Savvy Souls Circle Listen & Learn Teleclass Series.

“I am ultra-sensitive to flower energy and can hold a flower and feel its energy move up my arm. Not everyone can do that, but everyone can absorb the healing energy of flowers and allow the shift in their body to happen.”

Wow, Judy. What a neat post! Thanks for having Amy here. I am intrigued by flower essences and oils, but have not used them or had any training in this field. I love her part of her article where she shares about how her “self” was lost, wrapped up in taking care of others. This is very common for- as she shares women- but also common for caregivers, healthcare providers, nurturers in any phase of the word. I am glad to read that Amy is taking this time to find out what she enjoys and wants. I am glad she is taking care of herself. Thank you for such a beautifully written and inspiring post! Have a healthy day.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful response Elizabeth. Yes, I am too which is why I asked Amy to be my guest and I am also hosting her on my Savvy Soul Circle Listen & Learn Teleclass Series on March 13. It’s free for members & only $10.00 for non-members so please join us. https://nourishingsoulutions.com/whats-cookin/flower-essence-teleclass-31/
You make such a great point how as nurturers often give out so much they don’t have anything left. I agree and always say if you take the time to love yourself up you’ll have be able to nurture those you love all the more.

Hi Elizabeth,
Thanks for responding, and I love your insight about caregivers, healthcare providers, etc. That is so very true. There is actually a flower essence specifically for supporting this issue. It is Alpine Mint Bush from the Australian Bush flower essence line. (that is the group of flower essences I mainly use). It also happens to be a beautiful flower.

I am sure I will be talking more deeply about the more practical aspects of flower essences during the talk. Flower essences are such an easy way to explore energy medicine.

I am so happy to read this post because I absolutely adore flower essences. It’s such a wonderful way to take care of ourselves. I have to admit that I don’t have a wealth of knowledge about the properties of flower essences though, so would love to learn more. Thanks for a beautiful post.

I appreciate you reading my first Guest Post Mia. I too am intrigued by Flower Essences so I look forward to learning more from our Guest Healer Amy.

Hi Mia! I’m always thrilled to meet a fellow flower lover. What are some of the flower essences that you have enjoyed?
Are they in the combination blend, Rescue Remedy? or single ones?

I’m looking forward to talking more about them on Wednesday during Judy’s teleclass. I will be talking more deeply about my experiences and how to use them yourself. It will be fun.

I really appreciate the honesty in this post. What a great feeling for you to take that time for YOU. I agree with you that women don’t do this often enough and they should in their 20’s, early marriage years, and through having kids AND what a beautiful way to guide them to their essence. Thank you for sharing, I truly learned something new.

I appreciate you feedback Tara. Amy was my first Guest Post and I really appreciated her sharing her story so honestly. If this interests you perhaps you would like to learn more on my Flower Essence Teleclass next Wednesday 3/13.

YES! It does feel amazing to finally start taking time for me. I just got back from a 24 hour retreat and I am feeling amazing. I wasn’t sure how I could do it, but my husband and I found a way.
Prioritizing yourself, taking care of yourself so that you can continue with taking care of others is such an important lesson.
love and light

I was fascinated by this piece, Judy. Although I do not have experience with the power of flower essences, I totally “get” it just by being a gardener. I feel such joy in the presence of flowers, probably because of the vibrational quality you write about. How strong are the fragrances? I suffered for years from migraines, which were sometimes brought on by strong smells (including perfume), so I wonder whether concentrated flower essences could trigger that again. Thanks for sharing your experience! Martha

Thank you for sharing your thoughts Martha. I love how you can feel the vibrational quality of flowers while gardening. I too am really fascinated by their healing power which is why I invited Amy to write a Guest Post. So, I didn’t write this article. I am sure Amy will come back and address your question which is a really good one. My daughter suffered from migraines years ago and couldn’t handle and fragrances. Her migraines have subsided but she even Essential Oils don’t agree with her. I appreciate your feedback.

Oh I love that you understand this energy by being in the garden. Working in a garden deeply grounds me, and also lifts me up. For the past two summers I volunteered at a farm because I knew how good I would feel just being around all of the flowers and herbs.
Flower essences actually don’t have any flower fragrances. All that has been removed from the flower is it’s energy. The top picture in this post is cleome petals soaking in water. This water was then turned into a flower essence.
Since flower essences do not contain any scent, or pollen or any other irritants, they are truly accessible for migraine or allergy sufferers. It’s a great way for sensitive folks to enjoy the healing power of flowers.

Brandy is added a preservative, so if an individual is sensitive to brandy, some adjustments can be made.

thanks for asking such a great question, Martha. I know others are also wondering.

Judy Griffin March 10, 2013 at 6:29 pm

Thanks for addressing this question. I learned so much by reading your reply.

Judy Griffin July 15, 2013 at 3:32 pm

I don’t know how I missed replying to this Martha. My expert here shares that the scents are removed from the essence so they don’t cause allergic reactions or trigger migraines. For more info you can contact-Amy at Grateful Heart Healing Energy-amyghendrickson@gmail.com
